Dermaplaning is one of the newest trends in skincare! Dermaplaning is done by scraping the top layers of dead skin off the skin to reveal a brighter and smoother complexion. Dermaplaning can also remove peach fuzz and allows for better product penetration. It is recommended for all skin types, except those with active acne breakouts, and is also safe for pregnant women who want exfoliation without harsh chemicals!
We recommended going through a consultation with one of our licensed medical aestheticians to see if Dermaplaning is the right treatment for you!
Does Dermaplaning hurt?
Dermaplaning is a painless procedure – it feels just like shaving other parts of your body like your underarm or legs!
Are there any side effects to Dermaplaning?
There are no side effects or down time with Dermaplaning. Your skin will most likely be a pinkish-red tone post treatment. You will also be extra sensitive to the skin therefore an SPF is mandatory (which will be applied right after your treatment).
What is the difference between Dermaplaning and Microdermabrasion?
Both Dermaplaning and Microdermabrasion are great forms of exfoliation that remove unwanted surfaced dead skin. Microdermabrasion either uses microcrystals or diamonds to remove dead skin. Divine Spa uses the Dermapod, which uses crystals, for the microdermabrasion treatment. This particular machine also has a suction component, which helps to decongest clogged pores. Microdermabrasion will also not remove any peach fuzz. Dermaplaning uses a scalpel to remove dead skin, as well as remove any peach fuzz. Either form is great for all skin types, except during an active breakout. Our medical aestheticians will be more than happy to go over more details and help you choose with method would work best for your skin!
How often can I get this done?
Dermaplaning removes 2-3 weeks of dead skin, therefore its best to wait 4 weeks for optimal results since it takes roughly 28 days for skin rejuvenation.
Can I combine Dermaplaning with any other treatment(s)?
We highly recommend dermaplaning before any event since it will leave your skin looking smoother and more radiant. It can definitely be combined with several treatments, such as, but not limited to, chemical peels and microneedling.
Will my hair grow back thicker?
Many women are often concerned that shaving peach fuzz will make it grow back thicker and darker, but that’s just an old wives’ tale. Superficial vellus hair (a more fancy word for “peach fuzz”) will grow back at the same rate and with the same texture as it was before the treatment.
